Born and raised in North Bay Ontario, Dawn attended the University of Western Ontario. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Dawn decided that her love for sports and helping people would lead her toward the perfect career path physiotherapy. Dawn graduated in 1998 from Western and made the choice to head west. Shortly after that she secured a position at a Private practice in Powell River BC, during her time there she was able to build a steady case load and also help with the local Junior A hockey team the Paper Kings.
Knowing that the coastal life was not where she would settle, Dawn took a position with Osoyoos Physiotherapy where she was able to continue her education both as a practitioner and entrepreneur. She continued to complete various courses to become a better physiotherapist.
In 2002 her dream of clinic ownership was realized here in Vernon, with the purchasing of Concept Physiotherapy in the fall of that year. Over the last 10 Years Dawn has built a loyal clientele by providing a comprehensive treatment approach and by working one on one with her clients. She prides herself on developing individual treatment plans based on the specific problems she identifies. Treatment may include manual therapy (joint mobilizations), soft tissue techniques such as trigger point release, massage and stretching, modalities( ultrasound, acupuncture, cryotherapy etc..) and exercise prescription.
Dawn has a passion for both sports, and helping people, she has a wide range of clientele and her goal is always to work with you to get you back to your maximum function as quickly as possible.
Dawn has completed the following courses and certificates: level 3 manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, level 3 fit fore golf, advanced manual therapy courses involving the neck, back and pelvis, and is certified to perform acupuncture through the acupuncture foundation of canada.
I am very pleased to have joined ( as of July/2008) the dynamic team at Concept Physiotherapy. This is my 15th year practicing locally. I am also enjoying a more flexible schedule that allows for more last-minute appointments. I have excellent reception staff able to accommodate preferences and, when appropriate, appointment changes.
Appointments can be made for Mondays and Fridays between 8 AM and 2 PM as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-6 PM. 30 minute appointments allow me to evaluate and treat two separate body areas while 40 minute appointments allow for 3-4 areas. I take urgent new patients if I can guarantee them a follow-up appointment in 4-5 business days and new patents with chronic pain if I can guarantee them 3-4 appointments in 2 weeks.
I do my best to accommodate current and past patients within 3-5 business days.
Other practitioners in my office include 4 physical (sports) therapists, an acupuncturist using Traditional Chinese Medicine and an orthotist who uses video-gait Analysis. We have a large gym space with a variety of equipment suitable for postural re-education, core stabilization and general strengthening.
My approach to treatment involves taking a detailed history of injuries and other health issues. I then evaluate posture, function and other joint bio-mechanics. Treatment plans always include one or more exercises to prevent re-injury.
I graduated in 1996 with a post-graduate diploma fomr the Osteopathic College of Montreal (PQ). I have since regularly upgraded my skills and knowledge in related fields. There will soon be a link to a separate website with information on the manual therapy techniques I use in my practice. These include cranio-sacral therapy, visceral release and osteopathic approaches.

Nathan started with Concept physiotherapy in September 2011after working almost 2 years at a private clinic in Lethbridge, Alberta. Nathan completed a Bachelors degree in exercise science at the University of Lethbridge, and received his Masters of science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta.
Nathan has a strong interest in manual therapy and has completed post-graduate courses in peripheral joint mobilization and manipulation. As well as advanced assessment and treatment of shoulder pain and disorders. As such,
Nathan is prepared to assess and treat pain and dysfunction in all joints from your jaw to your big toe, and of course any back and neck problems. Treatment will focus on manual therapy with the addition of modalities and comprehensive exercise programs to return clients to athletics, work daily activities, and to prevent future problems.
Nathan moved from southern Alberta to beautiful Vernon, British Columbia for the vast sport and outdoor opportunities and of course the awesome weather! He coaches with the Vernon Volleyball CLub and is involved in many sports including volleyball, golf, mountain bikinig and badminton to name a few. As a proponent of all sports and athletics, Nathan can assist with any sports injuries and/or mechanical assessments to keep you in the game.
I joined the team at Concept Physio in December 2009. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria and completed my Masters of Science degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta.
I enjoy working with a variety of people and currently carries a caseload from kids to seniors. My treatment focuses on manual therapy techniques supplemented with comprehensive exercise programs in order for clients to return to everyday activities, work and/or recreational activities pain free. You will also be provided with the tools to prevent future problems.
I have also been certified to do acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Acupuncture is a great adjunct to the manual therapy and can help manage pain as well as promote healing.
I have completed a number of other courses including Level I and Level II of the Orthopedic Division’s Diploma of Advanced Manual & Manipulative Therapy courses and Mulligan’s Mobilization with Movement.
I am involved in community sports throughout the year and have a well rounded knowledge (and personal experience!) with mechanisms of sporting injuries. I understand the physical and mental pain that an injury can cause when it is keeping you away from what you love doing and can show you how a proper rehab program can lead to a speedy recovery and get you moving again!
